Announcement: Giveaway Winner

My giveaway was posted on January 12 and about a week later USPS announced a price increase in their shipping rates. It's not fair for the winner to pay for the new USPS shipping rate, since my giveaway post had the old shipping rate. So, I will cover the difference out of my own pocket. =)

I also noticed that a lot less people entered this time around compared to my previous giveaways. I know that the shipping rate was a huge turnoff for alot of people. However, it seems like USPS has no intention of lowering their shipping rates and instead, they seem to be increasing them every so often. =(

The entire prize list of my last giveaway valued at $273 and 15 items valued up to $118, so even though the winner has to pay for the shipping cost, I still think it was worth it to enter the giveaway. However, I'm not sure if I should continue to do these giveaways or just sell the makeup products. Please let me know how you all feel about this and I would love to hear your suggestions.

Anyways, the winner of my last giveaway is Holly Ann@Make Me Shimmer & Glitter. Congratulations, my dear! Please email me your shipping address and 15 items that you want from the prize list. I plan on shipping your package tomorrow or within 24 hours of hearing back from you. ^_^

  2. Congrats Ann! Enjoy the pretties :D

As to give away or sell, I think you should just do whatever feels best for you. No need to put yourself in debt over give aways, no need to take complaints/non entries too personally either. For some shipping costs is an obstacle but that does not mean either of you is doing something wrong. I guess shipping costs are an issue at bth ends :D But if a give away ends with an unpleasant feeling it does not reach its goal either. You could give away gift cards or PayPal credit or smaller prices of course. But at the end of the day it is your blog and the visitors and not the give aways that matter.

  3. Thank you for taking your time to respond. I really appreciate it. I've been having a tough time tackling this issue because on one hand, I hate the fact that I'm "making" my readers pay for shipping, but on the other hand, I have all these brand new unused makeup that's just sitting around collecting dust, but I can't keep up with all these giveaways & be responsible for all the shipping costs. So, I guess I'll just leave it up to my readers to decide whether or not they want to enter these giveaways. =)

  4. OMG!! thank you so much!! i am super excited!! i've emailed you the items i would like! :) as for the giveaways such as these, i wouldn't mind paying for shipping because you are getting so many great items. maybe for future giveaways you would have the winner choose five items and go with the smaller priority shipping box instead. a blog sale is always good too. if shipping rates are too much then gift cards are always a great alternative. thanks again for hosting an amazing giveaway.

  5. I got your email and will be shipping it tomorrow. =) Hope you enjoy your goodies and having the option of choosing 5 items and shipping it in the small flat rate box is a great idea for those who might not want to pay for the medium flat box. =D Thank you!
