Eyeshadow Swatches & Comparisons: Urban Decay Sin and Urban Decay Sellout

I bought these Urban Decay eyeshadows in October/November
and I haven't gotten the chance to swatch them until now.

Enjoy =)

*Color Description*

Stars Makeup Haven Sin-Sational - peachy champagne;
a little darker than Jest; shimmery finish

Urban Decay Sin - pinky beige; darker than Guilty as Sin & Sellout;
similar to Naked Lunch, except Sin has a metallic frost finish

Mac Naked Lunch - pinky beige; darker than Guilty as Sin & Sellout;
similar to Sin, except Naked Lunch has a shimmery finish

Stars Makeup Haven Guilty as Sin - pinky beige; a little lighter than Sin & Naked Lunch,
but darker and pinker than Sellout; shimmery finish

Mac Jest - light peachy beige; a little lighter than Sin-Sational; similar to Sellout,
except Jest has a peachy undertone & a shimmery finish

Urban Decay Sellout - light pinky beige; lighter than Sin, Naked Lunch & Guilty as Sin;
similar to Jest, except Sellout has a pinky undertone & a metallic frost finish

*Favorite*

Sellout: perfect color for the lids, feels so buttery smooth
& has a gorgeous metallic sheen

*Skip*

Sin-Sational - doesn't last long on my eyes even with my
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer or Urban Decay Primer

Guilty as Sin - a little bit glittery

*Urban Decay Eyeshadows*

Pros:
  • pigmented and easy to blend
  • buttery texture (except the ones with microglitters)
  • pretty frost finish with a metallic sheen
  • no fallouts with most of the eyeshadows
  • doesn't crease & lasts all day on my eyes when used with a primer
  • good range of colors
  • fits in my empty 28 pan eyeshadow palette (review)

Cons:
  • gets dusty and messy in the pan
  • some eyeshadows have microglitters (which causes me to have fallouts when I apply them on my eyes)
  • refill pans can't be purchased
  • harder to depot than mac eyeshadows

Bottom Line: I would definitely purchase more Urban Decay eyeshadows due to their pigmentation and ease of blending. The ones with the micro-glitters require a more tacky base to work with to prevent fallouts. For those who apply their eye makeup before foundation, then the fallouts wouldn't be an issue and can be easily wiped away.

Note: Urban Decay Eyeshadows cost $17.00 for 1.5 grams at Nordstrom, Beauty.com, and Sephora. Mac Eyeshadows in pan form cost $11.00 for 1.5 grams (some of the eyeshadows have 1.3 grams) and cost $16 in pots. Stars Makeup Haven (SMH) raised their price from $4.95 to $6.00 for 1.3 grams. The empty 28 pan palette can be purchased from Coastal Scents for $9.95.

  1. I love the texture of UD eyeshadows. I own the Deluxe Shadow Box (the purple palette with nine shadows) and it's lasted me a long time. I love the neutrals on the bottom row, though Sin is a new favorite of mine to blend with Underground.
