Swatches: MAC Vibe Tribe, Brooke Candy, Simpsons, Style Warriors and Indulge Collection (Limited Edition)

MAC Vibe Tribe 2016 Collection Review Swatches

I recently purchased a few goodies from MAC's Vibe Tribe 2016 Summer Collection and plan on picking up the Adobe Brick blush as well, which I will review in a later post.

When I was going through my stash to check for possible dupes, I realized that there were a few limited edition MAC products that I never reviewed on my blog. I decided to include them in this post because maybe you guys have forgotten about them too and this may remind you to use them again? You can also call your nearest CCO (The Cosmetics Company Store) to see if they still have them in stock. (The CCO carries products from Estee Lauder-owned companies, including MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Origins, Smashbox and Lab Series, and sells them for around 30% off retail price.)

MAC Gleamtones Powder Dunes at Dusk Review

MAC Vibe Tribe Gleamtones Powder in Dunes at Dusk ($33 for 7g/0.25oz) -  The formula is very easy to work with and glides smoothly onto the skin. It can be applied lightly for a subtle glow or layered for a more intense look, using a tapered brush, such as the Charlotte Tilbury one (review)

When all the colors are swirled together, it creates a cool-toned, mauvey pink shade, which looks gorgeous on lighter beauties. It also has an iridescent that can look peachy, lilac or pink depending on the angle and can act as a subtle blush when layered.

If you mix just the white and peach shade together, it creates a warmer highlight that complements medium to dark skin tones better and can act as a subtle bronzer when layered. This is a very versatile product and allows you to create various looks, depending on the technique.

MAC Whirl vs Vibe Tribe Hot Chocolate Lipstick Review

MAC Vibe Tribe 2016 Collection Hot Chocolate Lipstick Swatch Limited Edition

MAC Vibe Tribe Lipstick in Hot Chocolate ($18 for 3g/0.1oz) is a dirty plum with a satin finish. It has buildable, medium to full coverage. It looks like my lips, but better when I apply a light layer of it. I also like to blot it with a tissue paper for a more matte and natural look. I have extremely dry lips, but had no issues wearing it. (When wearing any type of lipstick, I always apply a lip balm underneath.)

Mac Brooke Candy Limited Edition Whirl Matte Lipstick Swatch

MAC x Brooke Candy Lipstick in Whirl ($18 for 3g/0.1oz) - The one that comes in the special packaging is limited edition, but it's also available in regular packaging from their permanent line for $17.

Whirl is a dirty rose with a matte finish. It pulls more brown and looks slightly darker compared to Hot Chocolate. I reach for this shade when I'm going for a night time look. It doesn't dry out my lips further and feels more comfortable to wear compared to other matte formulas. It's also one of the most long lasting lipsticks that I've tried and it's partly because the shade is dark.

Both lipsticks have a faint vanilla scent when I sniff the tube, but they don't taste like anything when applied on the lips.

MAC Sideshow You Powder Blush The Simpsons 2014 Collection Limited Edition Review

MAC Blush in Sideshow You ($24 for 9.5g/0.33oz) from the Simpsons 2014 Collection is a light peach coral with a satin finish. When compared to Fleet Fast, Sideshow You looks brighter and more pink. It has regular pigmentation that not's too sheer or too pigmented and can be built up for a more dramatic look or blended out for a more natural finish.

The compact contains more product and is bigger than other MAC blushes (6g/0.21oz). It has the same width as the bronzing powders, pressed powders, mineralize skinfinish and beauty powders. I've used it countless times and the Marge Simpson embossment is still intact, even though it does not go all the way through the pan.

MAC Malt vs Kid Swatch Comparison Review

MAC Malt Kid Dupe Eyeshadow Swatches

MAC Eyeshadow in Malt (1.5g/0.05oz) - I got the pot version (retails $16) for free through the Back2MAC program and depotted it so that I can store it in my palette. The one that comes in the refill pan retails $6.

Malt is a soft pinkish-beige with a matte finish. I love using it to blend burgundy shades like Makeup Geek's Bitten. Kid, which has been discontinued, leans more beige and works well as a transition shade with practically any eyeshadow. Wedge (swatches) is a great alternative for those who can't get a hold of Kid. It's slightly darker than Kid, but still provides the same effect.

MAC Eyeshadow in Eat Love ($15 for 1.5g/0.05oz) from the Indulge 2013 Collection is a deep emerald with a satin finish. It also contains green sparkles that don't really show up when worn on the eyes and tends to look more matte. It works well as a crease & outer v shade. For a night out, I like wearing a shimmery gold shade, such as Urban decay's Blunt, on the lids and pair it with Eat Love in the crease. I'll then use Carbon in the outer corner to create more depth.

Greensmoke (swatches) is lighter, leans more olive and has gold shimmers. I included a swatch of it just so you can see the difference and the undertone of Eat Love better.

MAC Eyeshadow in Night Manoeuvres ($14.50 for 1.5g/0.05oz) from the the Style Warriors 2009 Collection is a deep charcoal brown with a satin finish. It also contains silver sparkles that don't really transfer onto the skin. For those who find black eyeshadows to be too harsh, but still want to add dimension to a look, Night Manoeuvres is a great alternative.

Concrete
(swatches) is lighter and pulls more brown compared to Night Manoeuvres.

(The interchangeable palette is sold separately and can be purchased from Coastal Scents for $5.95. I always bring this with me on trips!)
